Ywca Of Northwest Ohio

The ywca domestic violence shelter is an emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking who are fleeing from abuse. Advocacy services include, but are not limited to, a 24/7 crisis hotline, court accompaniment, law enforcement interview accompaniment, safety planning, case planning, education on the dynamics of domestic violence, referrals to community services such as counseling, housing, and utility assistance, safe at home applications, and child advocacy. Support groups are facilitated for survivors of domestic violence. Survivors in the emergency shelter are provided with food, hygiene, and basic supplies such as diapers, wipes, and clothing.

The ywca youth development program is a comprehensive primary prevention program providing skills and support to help increase self-esteem, set personal goals and develop skills in boys and girls in toledo public schools. Youth development helps students identify refusals, delay tactics and alternative actions to abstain and protect themselves against peer pressure. Promoting healthy behavior, build life skills and create a sense of purpose among youth. Youth development aims to lower the teenage pregnancy and sti/hiv rates of high-risk youth.

The ywca rape crisis center (rcc) offers advocacy for survivors of sexual violence including, but not limited to, a 24/7 crisis hotline, 24/7 accompaniment to forensic exams at area hospitals, assistance with victims of crime compensation, vine notification education, accompaniment to law enforcement interviews or court hearings, referrals to ongoing community supports such as counseling, housing, and utility assistance. Support groups are facilitated for survivors of sexual violence.

Healthy connections - the ywca breast health program priority is to implement our project in communities with the largest negative breast health outcomes,where the greatest barriers exist and where target populations reside. We connect women who are uninsured and/or underinsured to low or no cost mammogramservices. The goal is to educate, improve behaviors, reduce barriers, dispel myths and increase positive health outcomes for all.

Permanent supportive housing - the ywca apartments are the only psh program dedicated to only serving homeless women and homeless women with childrenwith special needs such as chronic homelessness, disability defined by mental, physical or addiction to substances. On-site supportive services are provided thatencourage housing stability, increase income and benefits, and greater involvement in the community. The overlying goal for our residents is to provide them withthe support that they need to reach their fullest potential
