Mission
The primary purposes of the alliance is to support the development and extension of the z-wave wireless communication protocol and promote the protocol as a key enabling technology for 'smart' home and business applications, and to undertake such other activities as may from time to time be appropriate to further the purposes and achieve the goals set forth above. The z-wave wireless communications protocol and any other standards or specifications the alliance may create are referred to as the "specifications".

Industry education and promotion: promote consumer awareness and recognition of z-wave technology as the trusted standard for wireless control. Promote the z-wave protocol as a key enabling technology for 'smart' home and business applications. Provide information to the industry using various commissioned and volunteered resources. Commissioning and public posting of videos describing the benefits of z- wave technologies. Taking advantage of industry speaking and tradeshow opportunities to showcase developments and actively engage with the affected industries.
Certification program: maintains certification programs for both technical certification and market certification.
