Aime awards scholarships as well as certain medals and awards, including honorary membership. Many awards carry the namesake of icons within the aime disciplines of mining, metallurgical, and petroleum engineering, the steel and iron industry, and materials science. Aime also provides the member societies the annual income from endowment funds to support specific programs such as distinguished lecturers, students, young professionals, and the technical libraries.
