ASSOCIATION OF SMALL BUSINESS

Since 1994 the small business act provides that the u.s. Small business administration (sba) contract with the association to provide for an accreditation process for the small business development center program. The sba is required to consider the results of the accreditation process when evaluating the performance of a small business development center (sbdc) for purposes of extending or renewing its cooperative agreement. The association performs an accreditation on each sbdc grantee once every four years. The association provides written reports of the results of each accreditation to the sba for its use. The accreditation process used is based on established guidelines and education and training and is to be provided to the association's members on a regular basis.
