Programs & Activities
Program 1
$2.6MBusiness/resilience: c2es continued our collaboration with gold standard and center for green market activation as secretariat for the advanced and indirect mitigation (aim) platform, which is establishing innovative, high-integrity approaches to help companies account for and claim interventions that reduce ghg emissions across their value chains. C2es also submitted comments to the u.s. Securities and exchange commission on climate- related financial risk disclosure, focusing on preserving workability and flexibility for companies to make ambitious climate targets. In partnership with resilience first, c2es launched the corporate climate resilience pathways initiative to build out a comprehensive framework for companies to strengthen climate resilience and grow an active corporate community of practice. C2es launched a regional climate resilient communities accelerator in colorados north front range, exploring how community spaces can provide resilience year-round and during emergencies like wildfires and extreme heat. The accelerators diverse set of participants identified key action areas to advance resilience to wildfire and heat.
Program 2
$7.4MInternational and carbon markets: to support the environmental effectiveness of the paris agreement on climate change, c2es produces expert analysis and facilitates regular informal dialogues among key countries. This year, c2es focused on the global stocktake, the review of global progress toward paris goals that took place for the first time at cop28 in dubai. C2es efforts leading up to cop28 helped lead to collective targets to triple renewable energy, double energy efficiency, and transition away from fossil fuels, among other agreements. C2es also continued to support the energy transition accelerator (eta), an initiative to accelerate a just clean energy transition in emerging and developing economies. C2es worked with founding partners (the u.s. Department of state, bezos earth fund, and the rockefeller foundation), the world bank, and winrock international to develop a framework, announced at cop28 and supported by leading companies, for how innovative high-integrity energy transition credits could leverage tens of billions of dollars in clean energy investments in host countries.
