Move to Amend Education Fund Provides grants to Move to Amend to educate the general public, allied organizations, and affiliated grassroots movements about the history of democracy and corporations in the United States, the impact that the current state of democracy has on social movements to achieve their mission, and on solutions to end corporate constitutional rights and get money out of politics; to support and act in solidarity with organizations working on solutions that would be achievable with an end of corporate constitutional rights and money as speech; and to connect with other organizations dedicated to creating a diverse, independent, powerful and authentic democracy movement. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Granted funds to Move to Amend for the following educational activities. 1) Partnered with Alliance for Just Money for MayDay for Money Actions to make connections with the need for real democracy in democratizing the economy. 2) Ecology Network (Eco-Net) strengthened public education, facilitated presentations for how environmental movements can challenge corporate rule, mobilized activists, while prioritizing environmental protection and sustainability. Example: Move to Amend participated at End Fossil Fuels action in Manhattan, NY. 3) Developed and hosted Constitution Day events focused on The Courts, The Corps and Congress. 4) Presented "Abolishing Corporate Rule is Part of the Solution to Authoritarianism and Fascism" at the 22nd Century Conference. 5) Educated 1 post-secondary student (fellow) on the ramifications of corporate personhood and money as speech in political campaigns and launched hands-on organizing opportunities. 6) Movement Education and Empowerment Talks (MEETs) Presented- 3. 7) Strategic Planning Sessions to develop educational programming, outreach, and internal training work-plans; 8.) May 10th Commemoration: published Letters to Editor & Op Ed;created templates/instructions, training for grassroots leaders to submit and publish to local media. 9.) Juneteenth - Engaged in solidarity while bringing our message directly to the public - making connections between all of the importa issues and corporate rule and money in politics. 10.) Partnered with Veterans for Peace for teaching, and educational publications. PeaceWalk 2024 created joint materials connecting Peace activities to the need for solutions such as the We the People Amendment, while delivering speeches during and at concluding Rally. 11.) Partnered with the Poor People's Campaign for the pivotal election year required us to be present and visible at the National Conventions to make the case that although elections have consequences, they will not create the systemic change needed to unrig the system and create real democracy. To grow and strengthen solidarity activities with advocates and volunteers to support a strong affiliate base in Chicago.12.) Law & Society panel presentations (2) 13.) Movement Education Program: new session "Coping with Anger and Despair: Connecting Inner Growth with Outer Change."14.) Participated in the American Constitution Society annual conference and virtually the National Lawyers Guild annual conference. 15.) Hosted a series of pre and post-election programs on national, state and local examples comparing the promise of democracy to what actually is happening by those working on-the-ground and the need to create a powerful and authentically diverse and inclusive people's movement is just as important - if not more.
