Move to amend is a coalition of hundreds of organizations and hundreds of thousands of individuals committed to social and economic justice, ending corporate rule, and building a vibrant democracy that is genuinely accountable to the people, not corporate interests.

Internships/Fellowships: Apprenticeship opportunities to learn community organizing, organizational skills and leadership skills to increase the number of individuals who have the capacity to educate the public about the history of democracy and corporations in the United States and solutions to end corporate constitutional rights and get money out of politics. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1) Educated (3) post-secondary students on the ramifications of corporate personhood and money as speech in political campaigning and launched hands-on organizing opportunities.
Grassroots Movement Support: Training and resources for Move to Amend Affiliate and Advocate leaders and active volunteers. Skills taught include basic organizing, group development, media relationships, event coordination, resolution and initiative campaigns and political organizing. Resources developed and provided include webinar trainings, talking points, fact sheets, and tabling materials. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1) Produced and shared dozens of insightful articles to our supporters, on our website and to social media, sparking conversations that resonated nationwide. 2) Celebrated our 15th Anniversary with a 2-hour virtual gathering. 3) Hosted a Post-Election conversation and a session on "Coping with Anger and Despair: Connecting Inner Growth with Outer Change." 4) Staff, board members and volunteers participated in the End Fossil Fuels March and Constitution Day events in New York City, the Poor People's Campaign march, and the Veterans for Peace march in DC. and May Day for Money events and the Democratic National Convention in Chicago. These events allowed us to bring our message directly to the public and make the connections between all of these issues and corporate rule and money in politics.
Outreach & Community Building: Targeted talks, presentations & writings prepared for engagement with allied organizations to educate about the history of democracy and corporations in the United States, the impact that the current state of democracy has on their struggle to achieve their mission, and solutions to end corporate constitutional rights and get money out of politics; as well supporting and acting in solidarity with organizations working on solutions that would be achievable with an end of corporate constitutional rights and money as speech; and connecting with organizations dedicated to creating a diverse, independent, powerful and authentic democracy movement. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1) Veterans for Peace (VFP) made abolishing corporate personhood part of their strategic plan as featured in Veteran speaks TRUTH about war and government. We held this joint program: End corporate rule to end wars and occupations. 2) Co-sponsored with Democracy Unlimited Whose Constitution Is It Anyway? 3) Co-sponsored with Cool World and A Radical Guide Manifesto for World Revolution. 4) Co-sponsored with the Alliance for Just Money and several international groups a Summer reading circle on ending banking power. 5) Our previously held program on Promoting Laws to Reduce Corporate Power and Increase Democracy, sparked a public and media-covered action in Ohio calling for corporate charter revocation of a major utility corporation involved in the largest bribery scheme in the state's history. 6) Ecological Network (EcoNet): Monthly focus on the connections between ecological destructive policies and corporate rule with grassroots movement leaders and others sharing their stories and engaging in discussions and strategies, with a focus on uplifting the voices of people who disproportionately experience the effects of environmental catastrophes. 7) Solicited the support of several dozen new environmental, labor, community, faith and other non-profit organizations - totaling 789 local, area, state and national groups.
Lobbying: Grassroots constituent political organizing and direct legislative activities - including education and training for elected members of Congress and their staffers about the We the People Amendment (currently House Joint Resolution 54) as a solution to the problem of corporate constitutional rights and money in politics. Developing model codes and statutory reforms to be advocated for on the state level. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 1) To pass HJR54, lobbied, educated, trained, and built relationships with advocates, affiliates, endorsing organizations, as well as congressional staffers and elected Representatives and Senators. Organized an August recess lobby training 2) Pledge to Amend Campaign - Queried candidates for local, state and federal office to get their positions on record per the We the People Amendment and make this an election issue.We obtained 117 candidates that took the Pledge to Amend.
