GIFTS FOR THE HOMELESS

Used Clothing Drive: Beginning in October, area law firms, corporations, and other entities with ties to the Washington, DC legal community ask their employees to donate used clothing, blankets, toiletries, and related items and to make monetary contributions for the purchase of new clothing and blankets. Other individuals in the community who are not associated with these organizations or the legal community also provide donations for the purchase of new clothing and blankets. Each participating entity collects used clothing, toiletries, blankets and related items during the first weekend of December. Volunteers sort these donated items and assist in delivering these items to homeless support organizations in the Washington, DC area. The entire process occurs during a three-day weekend. The expenses listed here include the value of goods that GFTH distributed during the used clothing drive. Members of the board covered the costs of expenses necessary to execute the drive.
