Program 1
$1.9MFamily Support Services:In the fiscal year of 2023-2024, Family Services provided a total of 848 hours of Group Program, we conducted 1453 individual meetings through Family Advocacy and Case Management Programs. We served a total of 2092 individuals with services ranging from providing a quick referral to providing a year-long ESL class. Family Services offered 34 programs to a total of 986 program participants that completed Comprehensive intake with Good Sam and were enrolled in either Group or Individual Services. We were able to provide all the services planned for fiscal year 2023-2024 in person. Most of the services were provided for monolingual Spanish Speaking participants and were for families with children.The Family Advocate team also conducted 76 assessments with individual services clients to gauge their needs in the areas of housing, employment, food, transportation, adult education, parenting skills, child-well-being, legal services etc. Out of 23 closing assessments, a total of 109 out of 130 goals were reported to have been achieved and a total of 145 out of 165 referrals were reported to have been successfully linked.The most urgent needs were around employment, immigration and income issues, followed by food security, adult education and support system needs.To support families we continue with the basic need distributions in a reduce amount than last couple of years due to the impact on the budget reduction. Family Services distributed 285 diapers, 563 gift cards, 189 Transportation Tokens and 52 Turkeys to 473 unduplicated clients.We expanded our street outreach services in the Bayview area with the support of our Promotora team as a result 1162 families received information about Good Samaritan Services. Additionally, we were able to help families from SFUSD to apply for public benefits and provide information and apply for BMR Housing.
Program 2
$1.9MYouth Services:During the 2023-2024 period, Good Samaritan's Youth Services operated 2 comprehensive afterschool programs in the Bayview/Hunters Point District of San Francisco, located at Willie Brown Middle School and Calvary Hill Community Church. We also continued to serve as a lead agency for the SFUSD Beacon Community School at Willie Brown Middle School. At Thurgood Marshall HS we co-teach an advisory class for newcomer high school students. In addition, we facilitated 18 Newcomer support groups across 5 schools within the San Francisco Unified School District. Our summer programming included 6 camps designed to support learning recovery, mental health education, economic assistance, and case management. These efforts collectively impacted 813 students. Our approach remains focused on building meaningful connections with students and their families. We offer a combination of academic support and social-emotional learning, integrating mental health education to help students thrive in their academic, social, and recreational environments.
