NCCNHR DBA THE NATIONAL CONSUMER VOICE

Annual meetings - nccnhr's annual meeting and conference brings together the community of advocates and professionals who are committed to improving care in nursing homes and other long-term care settings.due to covid-19 the organization decided to hold its annual meeting in a virtual format. The virtual setting of the annual meeting has allowed nccnhr to bring together a much larger number of participants than in previous years.

Public policy-since its founding in 1975, nccnhr has been a key contributor to virtually every important improvement in nursing-home care policy and practice, notably the first comprehensive federal standards for quality care and residents' rights contained in the 1987 nursing home reform act. Nccnhr also addresses assisted living and community based long-term care policy. Nccnhr ensures the consumer interest is represented as policy is considered in congress, federal agencies, and courts as well as state government, and that the media are informed as well as appropriate.

Consumer and family support-the purpose is to provide information and referral, technical assistance, support, and training to residents, family members, citizen advocates, resident/family councils, and others waiting to improve the long term care system.
