UNITED ANIMAL NATIONS DBA REDROVER

Redrover readers - in 2024, the redrover readers program trained 186 participants through in-person and online workshops, more than doubling the number trained in 2023. Ninety-seven participants reported their readings and we reached an estimated 7,966 children, the highest reach in the past five years, bringing the program's total estimated reach to over 131,000 children. We continued our community partnership with the sacramento native american health center (snahc), co-creating new culturally relevant curriculum and completing our early ages gathering to learn empathy through stories (eagles) pilot program. We also strengthened our collaboration with forest school and wabanaki public health and wellness in maine. Kind news magazine reached 287,441 children through classroom subscriptions and digital access. We added several new sponsors, including sevier county humane society in tennessee and new hampshire animal rights league, and gained 443 web orders, nearly quadrupling the previous year. We also refreshed our kindnews.org website, updated marketing materials, and began exploring a shift in the magazine's funding model to increase long-term sustainability.

Public education & outreach - using our quarterly membership companion magazine, email newsletters, direct animal cause mailings, website, social media, speaking and tabling engagements, brochures and other materials, redrover educated members and the general public about the following: redrover's programs, spotting and reporting animal abuse, the link between domestic violence and animal abuse, the impact of puppy mills on animals, and the benefits of adopting pets from animal shelters and animal advocacy. Volunteers and redrover staff helped spread the word about our work at 57 events and conferences. In january 2024, redrover endorsed the animal violence exposes real threat of future violence (avert) act at the request of congresswoman dina titus. The avert act aims to understand and respond to the link between animal cruelty and future acts of interpersonal violence. Specifically, the bill commissions a department of justice study to assess the link between these crimes and authorizes a $2 million annual grant program to support mental health experts, law enforcement, and animal welfare organizations in their efforts to stop animal cruelty and rehabilitate offenders.
