Schedule o - transitional resources for children (trc)the trc program cares for children who have arrived in the united states unaccompanied and without an adult guardian. After being temporarily detained at the border, the department of health and human services, in partnership with the office of refugee resettlement, places these children in short-term care programs run by agencies like abbott house. Children remain in our trc or tfc programs until a family member or sponsor in the us is identified. If reunification is not possible, children are placed in ltffc bilingual foster homes with the hope of eventual adoption. In 2024: a total of 264 children were admitted into and cared for by the trc shelter program. A total of 204 children were cared for by our trc transitional foster care program, representing a 60% increase from 2024. A total of 23 children were cared for by our trc ltfc program.

Schedule o - family foster care/ therapeutic family foster care (ffc / tffc)the enhanced family foster care (effc) model combines family foster care and therapeutic family foster care to support children who have experienced trauma. Effc offers flexible, ongoing assessments and tailored services to address the changing needs of families. This increases stability and fosters secure attachments between children and caregivers, while also providing enhanced case management and comprehensive support to families in new york city as they work towards permanency.therapeutic family foster care (tffc) offers intensive support to children with serious emotional, behavioral, or medical needs in a structured home environment, while foster parents receive specialized, trauma-informed training. Abbott house provides this program in the lower hudson valley, ensuring safety, nurturing, and healing care for children with specialized needs while working with their families to achieve permanency. Fair futures is a youth-led advocacy movement and coalition comprised of over 100 organizations and foundations advocating for all young people in nyc's foster care system to have access to the long-term, comprehensive support services they need to achieve their potential. Abbott house's t.e.a.m program, in collaboration with fair futures, supports young people in foster care aged 11 to 26. It includes a middle school program for high school preparation, education advocacy, employment and career support, and a coaching program that offers 1:1 coaching to help our youth achieve academic, career, and life goals. In 2024: 317 children and adolescents had a safe, comfortable place to live through enhanced family foster care or therapeutic foster care. 169 children and teens in the bronx were supported through the fair futures program, an increase of 18% since 2023.

Abbott house also provides additional residential programs for children and adolescents in foster care and unaccompanied migrant children seeking asylum. Adolescents awaiting adjudication receive residential and structured support services through our non-secure detention program, and preventive and support programs to keep families together. With in-home counseling, trauma informed interventions, advocacy, and referrals, 100% of permanent placements were preserved through our permanency resource center program. Abbott house additionally operates an article 31 mental health clinic, article 29i medical clinic, and supports public school families in the bronx, ny.
