Mission

Alimenta La Solidaridad's mission is to support the Venezuelan community in meeting their humanitarian needs. This is done by providing small grants to individuals who organize communities to address malnutrition and basic health needs, and then also giving them food, equipment and job training to that end.

2024 saw a continuation of our budget and projects for basic public health supplies. Basic cleaning materials were purchased for our communities so volunteers could safely prepare meals and children safely collect the food made available to them. Our nutrition-program focused health supplies included scales, measuring tapes, and trainings on hygiene, nutrition, and sanitary cooking procedures. Grants were given to health professionals to train and assist in this work.

Alimenta conducted a project on empowering women community leaders with additional skills beyond the scope required for safely running community kitchens, so that women were more prepared to support their communities especially in violence reduction work and to equip women with minimal skills to enter the workforce. This program continued from last year, with a similarly sized team and number of grant recipients and training programs.
