Mission

(part 1, line 1), american friends of combatants for peace (afcfp) supports the mission of combatants for peace (cfp), through education, public awareness, community engagement and grantmaking. Cfp is a grassroots movement of israelis and palestinians, working together to end the occupation and bring peace, equity and freedom to their land. Afcfp also leads us-based programs, including webinars, speaking tours, delegation trips, nonpartisan engagement with policy makers, and fundraising efforts to promote peace and nonviolence in israel, palestine, and the us.

Global community engagement & community building afcfp expanded international outreach through the joint memorial day ceremony and joint nakba rememberance ceremony. In 2024, afcfp recruited more than 100 peer sponsors, supported over 450 global satellite gatherings, and helped engage more than 195,000 participants worldwide. These ceremonies promoted collective grief, solidarity, and peacemaking through large-scale, accessible, and community-based programming. Afcfp also invested in grassroots infrastucture by hiring its first program manager, who strenghtened community partnerships and four regional chapters, and launched a new chapter in new york city. Chapters build local communities for dialogue, education, and nonviolent engagement in support of peace.

Expenses: $77K

Awareness & grassroots engagement afcfp advanced public awareness and engagement efforts in the u.s. Through delegations and coalition partnerships. Afcfp co-organized a washigton, dc delegation of four israeli and palestinian representatives from combatants for peace who met with more than twenty congressional representatives and staffers to share personal testimonies and provide information about their joint nonviolent work for peace. Afcfp also co-organized a delegation of u. S. Community leaders who met with policymakers to share perspectives on peace, human rights, and opportunities for constructive u.s. Engagement. In partnership with nine organizations, afcfp supported a coalition gathering in washington, dc, which brought together hundreds of participants for public education and awareness-raising. Afcfp additionally coordinated congressional and public letters, signed by 50 lawmakers and more than 1,500 supporters, highlighting the importance of humanitarian relief, peace, and a political solution.

Expenses: $40K

Grantmaking afcfp raised and disbursed 560,000 in grants to support programmatic work in four key areas: education & empowerment (e.g. Freedom schools, land beyond the mountains), building community beyond borders (e.g. Joint memorial and nakba ceremonies), work on the ground (e.g. Olive harvests, water access support, school supply delivery, etc.), and general operations. Afcfp exercised fiscal oversight, ensured use of funds aligned with exempt purposes and donor restrictions, and collaborated with grantees to monitor program impact.
