Arise chicago builds partnerships between faith communities and workers to fight workplace injustice through education, organizing, and advocating for public policy changes.

Programs

Worker education: in 2024, arise chicago provided mass worker education, training, and resources to low-paid, primarily immigrant workers facing wage theft, dangerous workplace conditions, health and safety hazards, discrimination, or other abuse. Arise trained 5,579 workers at virtual and in-person workshops. Arise reached thousands of workers through digital educational materials to provide information on their rights at work.

Policy change & government improvement: city: arise served on the mayor's co-governance steering committee. County: following advocacy from arise, the cook county commission on human rights cchr hired an additional training & outreach coordinator. State: arise, as part of the raise the floor alliance (rtf), advocated at the state level for additional worker protections provisions, several of which were incorporated into amendments to the whistleblower protection act, which passed the illinois general assembly in may 2024 and took effect january 1, 2025.

Elevate worker voices and stories: arise secured 111 media pieces, lifting the voices and stories of worker struggles in the public narrative.
