Mission

To upgrade the health, education & living standards of underserved children and (Continues on Sch O) families in Palm Beach County. Significant Information: Caridad Center relies exclusively on volunteer healthcare professionals to achieve our Mission and provide Primary and Specialty Care to our patients. These volunteers represent a significant value to the Center and the community and are scheduled and managed, as would paid staff. We believe any calculation of Program Service Expense should include the value of these volunteers ($8,355,298 in fiscal year 9/30/2024). Donated dental services are valued at the price per procedure as determined by the American Dental Association. Donated vision services are valued at the price per procedure at stated Medicaid rates. Donated medical and other services are valued at the price per hour as determined by the Florida Department of Health. Note: This value is included in our Annual Independent Audit Report, but not in our Form 990.

Programs

2 programs

Caridad Center Social Services and Behavioral Health Department delivered 19,127 services to over 4,007 people, including mental and behavioral health individual, group, and family counseling, scholarships, special events, social services, and case management assistance using social determinants of health (e.g., emergency housing, electricity, and food), including referrals to other community resources. These services address the broader factors contributing to health and socio-economic barriers. The Social Services and Behavioral Health Department's behavioral and mental health services have continued to grow, providing critical counseling, therapy, and psychiatric health services to patients. Caridad's Youth Magnolias Socio-educational Group has been a beacon of growth, empowerment, and community for young women. In fiscal year 2023/2024, we had two participants graduate from our Youth Magnolias Socio-Educational Group.

Expenses: $669KGrants: $51K

The Health Education Department continued to grow, providing 18,413 health education classes to patients and families. Taught by Caridad's Community Health Workers trained at Caridad, these classes helped patients learn about healthy lifestyles, diet, exercise, and managing their health conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension. Together, these volunteer doctors, dentists, and other allied health professionals provided over $9.4 million in free services, potentially saving Palm Beach County taxpayers nearly $20 million by eliminating uncompensated emergency room care.
