Charlottesville community bikes (ccb) is a nonprofit bicycle shop that promotes environmentally-sound transportation, recycles bicycles, and makes cycling accessible. We work to create innovative, community-rooted solutions to address community mobility needs.

Programs

2 programs

Refurbished bike and repair shop / workforce development collect and refurbish bikes that would otherwise end up in the landfill. Restore and sell donated bikes and operate a full-service bicycle shop. The shop serves as a revenue source for the free bike program. Organize inclusive group repair events where people from various backgrounds learn new skills and connect with others. In partnership with the boys & girls club of central virginia, there is a summer youth mountain biking program. Operates a teen job training program specifically designed to empower teens from communities that are historically underrepresented within the cycling industry.

Mobile repair clinicswe hold free bike repair clinics at community events in public and low-income housing communities, helping recipients access regular bike repair services. This program welcomes people who may otherwise not feel comfortable in a bike shop setting and helps secure bicycles for students that need alternative transportation.
