Choices for Freedom is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families who have been impacted by mass incarceration. We develop and deliver effective and culturally relevant programs, incorporating life skills and healing, to men and women serving time, with reentry programs to assist them with reintegration back into the community, and with mentoring and prevention programs for youth.

Choices provided 103 men in California with reentry supports and workforce development training post-release from California state prisons and developed and delivered a Credible Messenger training program for men who have served long terms in prison.

Choices delivered a cognitive behavioral program with mentoring and financial incentives to 32 young adults referred by the City of Stockton Office of Violence Prevention for gang involvement, with support from Making WorldBuilders and the National Prevention Science Coalition.

Expenses: $81K

Choices provided over 200 men in custody at San Quentin State Prison with financial and staff support for inmate led programs aligned with the California Model Prison initiative.

Choices provided rides home for men and women being released from California State Prisons.
