We provide employee staffing and management services to baltimore county, md for their west-side freezing weather shelter. The primary goal is to provide a warm space for men, women, and children experiencing homelessness to spend the night during the night when freezing weather is expected. The county activates the freezing weather shelter and csoh provides the staffing. Some minimal assistance is provided with case management. We served 74 individuals with shelter. (note: we provided food first night of activitation when called at last minute, otherwise county provided food. Also, county provided for security services.)
Baltimore county, md housing stability grant. The grant was awarded in late 2022. Csoh began incurring expenses while awaiting county reporting documentation needed to request reimbursement. We incurred 11,637 in ty2022, but no reimbursements were received before year-end; all ty2022 expenses were reimbursed in ty2023. The grant continued through ty2023, paused 06/30/2024, and resumed in october 2024. We hired staff to support this program. Services include assisting community members experiencing housing instability or seeking new housing by connecting them with county/state resources, helping them obtain id, and securing required certifications of need.
Rental assistance a memorial fund was established to provide rental assistance to shelter clients moving into permanent housing; to support former clients needing rental assistance; and to help active and former clients prepare for new employment (e.g., purchase ppe). The fund is supported by donations. Evangelical lutheran church in america support to provide overnight housing and meals to csoh clients. United way of central maryland support to expand administrative management. Emergency food & shelter program support to pay salaries for a second staff position supervising clients.
