Worker Training - This program offers support to workers for classes and workshops to improve their English and learn a variety of skills, enabling them to make productive use of time when they are not working to support themselves and their families. English as a second language classes, job skills workshops, safety training, food handling training, gardening and leadership training are all offered to the workers regularly. Also, classes are provided for computer training and training for passing the written drivers license test.

Program Service Accomplishments During the reporting year, the Day Worker Center successfully advanced its mission through a wide range of programs and services that directly benefited workers and strengthened the community. Job Placements: 10,495 jobs were secured for workers, providing vital income and economic stability. Healthy Meals: 20,112 nutritious meals were served to support the well-being of day laborers. English as a Second Language (ESL): 201 ESL classes were held, with a total of 1,947 duplicated attendees and an average of 9.68 students per class. Volunteer Engagement: Community members contributed 1,195 volunteer hours, assisting with education, outreach, and program delivery. Worker Rights and Education The Center prioritized worker empowerment through targeted labor rights workshops and trainings: Wrongful Termination and Retaliation (in Spanish) - in-person workshop. Human Trafficking Awareness - virtual training in Spanish led by Nestor from UC Berkeley's Labor Occupational Health Program. Discrimination and Harassment - virtual workshop in Spanish with Tenaya from UC Berkeley's Labor Occupational Health Program. Health and Safety: Handling Chemicals Safely - training focused on jobsite protection and hazard prevention. Health and Wellness Support To further promote holistic well-being, the Center offered a special Momentum Health Presentation on managing stress and depression, addressing the mental health needs of workers often facing challenging conditions.
