Our communications team connected with grassroots partners to mobilize voters and encourage political participation. Our Regional Managing Organizers (RMOs) across 5 regions in the state worked with civic organizations, places of worship, community leaders and other individuals to engage voters--educating them in new Voter ID laws, changes in voting requirements for previously incarcerated people, and the impact of gerrymandering in their communities.

Expenses: $1.5M

During the 2024 General Election, Democracy NC's policy department trained more than 1500 people to be Election Advocates which included Vote Protectors, Canvass Monitors, and CBOE volunteers. We deployed 1000 Vote Protectors across 48 counties during the period of early voting. Our CBOE monitors attended meetings in 50 counties. Democracy NC's Communications department managed NCVoter.org, a website that provides comprehensive nonpartisan educational resources to voters. The site was visited over 300,000 times in 2024.Democracy North Carolina owns and hosts the Election Protection hotline for the state of NC (888) Our-Vote. In conjunction with the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, the hotline was staffed by trained volunteers (lawyers, law students, and voting rights experts). The hotline handled 6,300 text and calls in 2024.
