Mission
the organization's mission is to promote equity by empowering under-resourced youth to discover & develop their innate creative potential to shape the world around them. it accomplishes its mission by running summer & after-school programs for baltimore city public school students. the topics are creative problem solving (design thinking), how to make & create products (digital fabrication, sewing, woodworking, graphic design), and entrepreneurship (in teams, students form ventures).
Programs
2 programs
ran a 5 week summer program called "bet on baltimore" that served 95 students across 6 program sites. students learned to build products & then launched ventures for the new products created. others applied creative problem solving and design thinking to better understand social issues in their community, prototype solutions and launched ventures to address the issues.
during the school year the organization ran a program called "made@dent" in which youth were paid hourly to design and create custom products to be sold to local organizations and individuals. students created custom nameplates, keychains and cards, learning how to build a business and create products at scale, all, while earning.
