Community outreach and landmark operations: bringing the arts into every aspect of the community and making the arts available to all is a major component of the dr. Phillips center. Non-profit groups and schools are supported in their productions by dr. Phillips center professionals. Located in the heart of downtown orlando, the uniquely designed property is a public landmark. We provide a gathering place and ways for community organizations to benefit from the center. Our production and marketing teams provide significant professional support and expertise to local arts groups and community organizations in their presentations at the arts center. Community and civic organizations often use the center to make announcements or hold events. Free community events are held on the outdoor plaza. We have provided unique community giveback initiatives that include tickets to presentations and other events for students, veterans, first responders, teachers, senior citizens, and people with special needs.

Arts education: the dr. Phillips center advent health school of the arts produces and offers arts education at a variety of levels for participants from ages 3 to 103. Our philosophy that the arts inspire wellness through hands-on educational experiences provides opportunities at the arts center and in the community. Our classes and summer camps include training in performing arts disciplines of dance, voice, theater, instrumental and wellness. Scholarships are available. Broadway master classes allow local students and pre-professionals to train with visiting professionals from national broadway tours. Education programs go beyond our doors into the community at schools and other organizations. Our applause awards program serves schools in the 7 county region and beyond by providing professional adjudicators to over 50 high school musical productions. Based on the adjudicator comments and tabulations, productions and individuals receive awards in specific categories at a ceremony held each year at the center. During certain music performances we bring in groups of students to experience the sound check of the artists, a q&a, a lecture series, dinner and tickets to the show. In the summer we provide teachers to partner with a local organization that serves special needs students in camps. At the end of the week the campers perform their production at the arts center. Through grants we provide arts curriculum and teachers to at-risk schools. Artist residencies allow visiting artists to go into the community during their time at the arts center (examples include: artists visited schools and hospitals prior to a performance; created pieces with a group of senior citizens at a residential community, worked with a group of special needs high school students and area high schools' performing arts programs). Arts & wellness programs use the healing power of music, and the mind-body connection of dance and percussion, to reinforce an arts integration that brings joy, support and measurable purpose and enhancement to participant's lives. Participants include stroke survivors and their caregivers, alzheimer patients, and veterans.
