Produce for the people: worked towards alleviating food insecurity in the community and creating an equitable, sustainable, and healthy, local food system in the following ways:our community supported agriculture (csa) program had 250 subscriptions in its second year. It redirects local funds to local farms and reduces food miles/carbon emissions. We destigmatize food aid by offering the same food to people from wide-ranging socioeconomic backgrounds. We supported over 100 families by providing affordable/free weekly csa shares.weekly free produce distribution at our greenhouse occurred every friday until december 22nd. No sign-up required, no questions asked.
Living lands: farming focused on growing community and regenerative agriculture in the following ways:hosted weekly harvest parties during the growing season. Helped gardeners get started with our annual seedling sale to over 100 persons.demonstrated climate solutions at various scales - we operate a zero-emissions geothermal greenhouse in east boston (first of its kind in new england), mitigate stormwater, increase soil health, offer urban composting, etc.demonstrated positive climate impact of local farming and local food consumption. Invested in and made partnerships with local ma farms that use regenerative farming methods and are owned by bipoc, minority, and socially disadvantaged community members.
