Since 1870, erie neighborhood house has been an agent of hope and change to immigrant and low-income communities in chicago, enabling children to develop to their fullest potential and families to meet the challenges of poverty and build a brighter future. Erie house's mission is to empower our community - latinx immigrants alongside individuals and families of all backgrounds - through education, access to critical services, and advocacy, working together to create a just and inclusive society.

Programs

6 programs

Our adult education & training services provide foundational academic and professional programs that prepare adults for long-term success. Programming spans english as a second language instruction, adult basic education, civics classes, one-on-one and small group tutoring, and basic, intermediate, and advanced technology education.

Our children and youth services are divided into two programs: early childhood education (ece) for children ages 0 to 5, and expanded learning programs (elp) for children and youth ages 6 to 18.elp offers three year-round, age-appropriate programming options for children and youth: (1) youth options unlimited, which improves academic attainment and life skills and offers safe, recreational alternatives for at-risk youth ages 12-18; (2) school age program, which offers an array of enrichment services for youth ages 5-12 to include elementary literacy, academic support mentoring, social-emotional health support, health education, physical activity, and field trips; (3) reads, which is a tutoring program designed to improve 1st-3rd graders' literacy skills for children referred to erie house by our partner schools in little village.

Our mental health and wellness program, proyecto cudate behavioral health, provides free, bilingual behavioral health services to children, teens, and adults to help them meet their overall wellness goals and develop positive strategies that strengthen connections within their families and communities.

Our legal services department provides critical resources to chicago's immigrant communities through direct assistance and legal representation for citizenship and naturalization, deferred action for childhood arrivals, family-based petitions, adjustment of status, asylum and removal defense, u visas, violence against women act petitions, temporary protected status, waivers of inadmissibility, consular processing, and employment authorization.
