Further, families in schools released its first literacy report the literacy crisis in los angeles and beyond to raise public awareness of the early literacy crisis and mobilize action at the state and local level.
Elevating family and community voice families in schools entered its fifth year as co-lead of cei, a statewide effort to support school districts in implementing high-impact community and family engagement strategies. At the local level, fis launched read la! A campaign to ensure that los angeles students can read and thrive. As part of its launch, fis partnered with the los angeles unified school district to host community learning sessions across the region, equipping hundreds of families with knowledge and resources about how children learn to read so that they can support their children at home and have the necessary tools and information to advocate for them at school. Additionally, through our school2home partnership, we helped title i middle schools integrate technology into teaching and learning and built capacity around family engagement.
