$3.1MStudent impact: our student impact initiative, formerly education recovery, supports our summer of joy programming, high school internship pilot, and afterschool pilot. Summer of joy facilitates a collaboration between lausd, city of los angeles, local philanthropy, and dozens of nonprofit service providers to offer free in-person summer enrichment to students in low-income communities. The high school internship pilot aims to increase the number of high school students completing internships offered by los angeles employers and the afterschool pilot provides robust professional development to after-school staff to improve student academic outcomes and experiences.

$1.3MCivil engagement:our civic engagement initiative elevates public education as a civic priority and increases nonpartisan voter turnout through direct voter engagement and digital media. Most of this initiative is conducted by gpsn with a small portion of nonpartisan voter engagement conducted by community-based nonprofits.

$726KCatalytic initiatives:our catalytic initiatives fund supports our research and poll publications as well as our innovation pilots. This includes our annual polling of los angeles families on their perspectives of los angeles public education and research on the state of los angeles public schools. This fund also supports our modern classrooms project investment, which provides online professional development to los angeles teachers.
