Instituto's career pathways program focuses on supporting low-income, limited-english proficient adults who need to develop skills, access or continue their education, to launch prosperous careers, attain employment, reach financial sustainability, and begin their journey to building wealth. The programs offered through career pathways help address the unique needs of the families we support by providing key supportive services such as career exploration and coaching, academic advising, intensive case managements services such as access to public benefits, financial education coaching, and job referral and placement services. The department also connects program participants with academic tutoring, childcare services, vocational skills trainings, such as computer classes, the basic nursing assistant training program, and other skill building trainings not offered in the organization, as well as rental, light, heat, and other programs that help them meet their most immediate needs.

Institutos english, citizenship and adult education courses help students build the foundation to further their education. Adult classes are offered on a variety of schedules to accommodate students' needs and provide on-site child care while parents are in class. Students are placed in esl, citizenship or adult education courses specific to their skill level to prepare them to move on to contextualized career courses. The family literacy program initiative provides invaluable aid to institutos adult education students and their children, encompassing free schoolwork assistance, robust parental and resource support, engaging reading and science activities, and essential supplies. Families enrolled in this program gain access to exciting field trips, immersive library story times, and enticing raffles. It's a holistic approach that nurtures not only educational growth but also a sense of community and shared exploration.

The instituto citizenship department and immigration legal services office provides immigration eligibility screening, deferred action for childhood arrivals (daca) renewals, and citizenship application processing for low income lawful permanent residents and all immigrants residing in illinois. We are proud to be the largest processor of citizenship applications in the state of illinois. Our legal aid programs educate and support latino communities by providing resources that promote equal access to justice. Our services include legal consultations, case review, and presentation for work permits, asylum applications, victims-based relief (u and t visas), family-based petitions and adjustments of status. We also provide credible fear and reasonable fear advisals for detained and non-detained individuals, immigration court proceedings advisals, foia requests with uscis, eoir, cbp, ice, as well as motions to reopen, motions to continue, voluntary departure, changes of venue and changes of addresses.
