Public programs during fiscal year 2024, ica miami continued to generate a robust program of public presentations, lectures, seminars, artist talks, live performances, and podcasts. Building on the structure that divides the institution's public programs into focused components, programming was developed under the following rubrics: knight foundation art + research center, ica ideas, ica performs, and ica speaks. * knight foundation art + research center (a+rc) ica miami's a+rc remains the museum's platform for advanced study and dialogue on art and ideas, offering free college-level seminars and public lectures. In fy2024, the a+rc hosted multiple three-week seminar intensives led by prominent artists, theorists, and scholars addressing themes such as global conceptual art, the arts of jamaica, and afro-cuba: art and ritual. Over the course of the year, the a+rc presented 10 public lectures and released a new season of its podcast, featuring artists and scholars including zilia sanchez, tau lewis, sasha gordon, ahmed morsi, and cultural historian richard powell. The a+rc summer intensive convened students and community members for interdisciplinary study with visiting faculty from leading universities. A+rc also hosted its annual "keynote lecture," which features poet cathy park hong. * ica ideas ica ideas provided in-depth conversations, symposia, and critical reflections tied directly to ica miami's exhibitions. Highlights in fy2024 included: o a panel discussion situating charles gaines's conceptual practice within histories of american civil rights and systemic critique. O a public dialogue with scholars on huguette caland's radical approach to intimacy and ornamentation. O a conversation on rose marie cromwell's photographic practice exploring globalization and miami's shifting cultural landscape. O a public conversation with sasha gordon, exploiting her painting practice. O an interdisciplinary one-day symposium on zilia sanchez practice in the context of postwar latin american modernism and geometric abstraction broadening perspectives on the artist's work and exploring the various artistic contexts she worked in including havana, new york, madrid, and san juan. O a public discussion on the late paintings of carlos alfonzo. * ica speaks ica speaks hosted artist talks and scholarly reflections related to ica miami's permanent collection and exhibitions. Fy2024 featured a performance of artist charles gaines's "manifesto 3", a multimedia installation at the intersection of music, language, and visual art. * ica performs ica performs activated ica miami's galleries with cross-disciplinary live programming. The 2024 iteration featured "passage - in the wake of the world," an ongoing transdisciplinary project conceived by artist angela lyn (lugano) in collaboration with composer jesse bannister (london) and choreographer durante verzola (miami). Bringing together different artistic disciplines and artists and performers of various ages and cultural backgrounds, the piece seeks to re-envision modes of connection and understanding through art as a transformational vehicle. Through these initiatives, ica miami presented dozens of public programs during fy2024, engaging thousands of participants in dialogue, learning, and live performance. These programs reinforce ica miami's mission to provide free and open access to contemporary art, foster critical thought, and amplify diverse voices in miami, nationally, and internationally.

Expenses: $496K

Education and outreach ica miami continues to expand its educational initiatives to serve students, families, and community partners. The young artists initiative provided an intensive, application-based program for 10th-12th grade students, offering direct engagement with practicing artists and critical art history coursework. Students developed portfolios culminating in an exhibition at ica miami. Ica miami also offered summer portfolio prep for middle school students applying to magnet and charter art programs, and saturday art classes for children ages 8-14. Together, these programs served more than 100 participants during fy2024. Outreach programs engaged underserved children and youth through partnerships with miami-dade public schools and community organizations. Ica miami curricula foster visual literacy and empower participants' social and cultural identities. In fy2024, more than 300 students were served. Ica miami hosted family programs including family fest and weekly workshops designed to welcome children of all abilities. These accessible programs combined storytelling, art-making, and movement, serving over 300 families during fy2024.
