Mission

The josh gibson foundation believes in the endless possibilities for potential in today's youth. By providing academic and athletic programs that foster leadership and scholarship, the skills necessary for tomorrow's successes are created today. Our goal is to carry on the legacy of greatness and accomplishment embodied by josh gibson, by developing programs that help children of every level of ability to reach their potential, and to create opportunities that set the josh gibson foundation apart from other organizations and provide value for our communities.

Programs

3 programs

After school program-this program is currently housed in partnership with ozanam basketball program at the ammon recreation center through the pittsburgh parks and recreation. Children are assisted with homework and mentored in life-skills by tutors provided by duquesne university. A strong partnership with the pittsburgh public schools ensures that the tutors have the appropriate tools necessary to successfully assist students with varying abilities.

Expenses: $11K

Mentoring program-the josh gibson foundation provided motivational/mentoring programming. The program's goal is to enlighten at risk children, a larger world outside of their community full of opportunity. Motivational guest speakers are brought in from the community to speak with students about their futures, career options, and personal growth. Above all, the speakers encourage education and responsibility as the means of improving oneself.

Camp challenge-camp challenge is a summer program for 50-60 youth ages 6-13 that includes physical activity and also introduces opportunities for field trips, music, crafts and nutrition.

For the future health of in baseball it is crucial that children of color and girls see themselves represented and develop a sustained interest in the sport.
