Kanbes Markets

To provide funding to support expansion of the Healthy Corner Store Program, which provides access to fresh, affordable, high-quality produce in Wyandotte County. This program targets those struggling with mobility issues, lack of transportation, and those living in areas with limited grocery options. Funding will cover costs of establishing new stores, operations costs, food costs, truck deliveries, drivers, and a dedicated Kansas-specific Healthy Corner Store Liaison who will work exclusively on onboarding new stores, building community awareness, and promoting produce shopping adoption.

After the Harvest joined forces with Kanbe's Markets, a collaboration intended to eliminate food deserts and reduce food waste in the Kansas City area. In this partnership, the programs and operations were integrated, with Kanbe's Markets continuing and expanding the gleaning and food recovery work previously managed by After the Harvest.
