Mission
Kentucky pharmacy education & research foundation is a nonprofit professional organization whose goals are to provide education accreditation and continuing education opportunities for kentucky pharmacists to meet their annual ce license requirements required by the commonwealth of kentucky, promote the profession of pharmacy, enhance the practice standards of the profession, and demonstrate the value of pharmacists services within the healthcare system. The foundation also oversees and administers various programs designed to provide pharmaceuticals and support services throughout kentucky in times of disasters and emergencies. In addition, the foundation provides services and supplies in conjunction with state and local agencies as part of the harm reduction program to fight the opioid abuse crisis.

A grant was obtained to develop and implement a centralized naloxone distribution program in partnership with community pharmacies and utilizing the mobile pharmacy to dispense naloxone atomizers to combat opioid deaths in kentucky. As a companion to this program, the department of public health has instituted additional programs to engage pharmacists on staff to assist with emergency preparedness in kentucky, as well as for naloxone training and inventory.
The center for excellence will be used to enhance and expand the pharmacy profession.
