Kentucky Resources Council Inc

The second largest program for krc is our environmental and community defense program. We provide free legal assistance to individuals and community groups living "downwind, downstream, and downhill" of environmental problems, who cannot afford or find representation. We also work programmatically through litigation and advocacy to improve the quality of life for all kentuckians and to assure that those who pollute our land, air, or water are held accountable. We represent our clients free of charge to reduce the economic barriers that too often obstruct the quest for environmental justice.

The third largest program area for krc is education and outreach which includes online and in person presentations on topics such as protecting kentucky's waterways, to give citizens tools to better protect the places they live and love. Krc also tabled and our staff gave talks at public events throughout the state, raising environmental awareness and doing outreach and engagement to create a cleaner, healthier kentucky.

The last program area for krc is the center for environmental policy, which conducts research, provides policy analysis, and educates the public and policymakers on important energy and environmental issues impacting kentucky. Krc also engaged in, within irs limits, lobbying on energy and environmental policy matters, including testifying against legislation weakening safety protections for coal mine workers and legislation imposing additional barriers and delays on retiring aging and uneconomic fossil-fueled power plants.
