The mission of latinos in action is to empower latino youth to be college and career ready through culture, service, leadership, and excellence in education.

Programs

3 programs

Held 6 in-person student boot camps: three in utah, and two in florida. Bootcamps provide hands-on leadership training for lia students to prepare them to lead their class next school year.

Awarded 113 competition monetary prizes: 40 writing, 31 visual arts, 32 short film, and 10 performance competition scholarships to lia students in utah, florida, nevada, washington, arizona, colorado, oregon, iowa, and new mexico.

Held 4 in-person educator institutes and 2 virtual educator institutes: two in utah and two in florida. New and returning lia teachers participated. Educators were trained on the lia program and given social emotional (sel) tools to prepare them to support students for the upcoming school year. Organized "masterminds" groups that allowed lia student leaders to set and complete goals for their lia classes, gathering as lia regional leaders to support and hold each other accountable. All lia schools were assigned a masterminds group of less than 10 schools that would meet three times a year, with the first session happening during the summer boot camp and the other two sessions happening during the school year. Awarded 30 college scholarships to high school graduating seniors and college students in utah, florida, nevada, washington, arizona, colorado, oregon, iowa, and new mexico.
