Premier health was the first in the miami valley region to hire a substance use navigator (sun). The sun program staff work with patients in the emergency department to complete chemical dependency assessments and provide linkages to care, placement in treatment facilities, and other wraparound services with warm handoffs. In 2024, 649 patients were seen by a substance use navigator; 128 patients were placed "bed to bed," from the emergency department to inpatient treatment for substance use disorder.

Emmett's place is an area of respite and hospitality for the immediate family members of newborn infants who are hospitalized in the nicu, and for hospitalized pregnant women and their families experiencing a longer than usual hospitalization. It provides families with an area to be together during a hospital stay and decreases the stress families face as they look for ways to navigate home, school, and work life, while trying to spend time with their new infant. This space includes sleeping rooms, private bathrooms with showers, laundry machines, kitchen, dining nook, living room, and children's area with activities. The operations of emmett's place is 100% donor funded. Proceeds from the annual emmett's place event and donor contributions benefit this space, with an average of of 300 individual visits each day in 2024.
