Military veterans in journalism's mission is simple: get more military veterans working in america s newsrooms. Veterans bring perspective, nuanced understanding and on-the-ground experience about the military and veteran affairs that ultimately benefit newsrooms and news consumers.

MVJ's Fellowship program offers emerging journalists the opportunity to explore the field of journalism at a publication or news outlet. MVJ works with fellows and the outlet to develop a work plan and objectives, so they can finish a fellowship with a strong portfolio, and strong prospects for a future full-time job in journalism.

With over 80 protégés and over 100 professional journalists in the MVJ mentoring network, the program boasts an average goal completion of 70%.
