To preserve and interpret the history of electric street and interurban railways for the nation's capital

Railway: the demonstration railway provided street car rides to the public and to students that interpreted the electric street railways in the nation's capital. Public operations are every saturday and sunday throughout the year.
Education: the organization provided an educational program for school students and was run by the organization's part-time educator. For a fee, a teacher can bring a classroom of students to the museum to participate in the educational program and a street car ride. This program supported the organization's mission of preserving and interpreting the history of electric street and interurban railways for the nation's capital. This program was offered on thursday and friday during most of the school year.
Membership services: the bi-monthly newsletter, the headway recorder, is the funnel for museum information to its members. It contained the minutes of the board of trustee meetings and other information on the progress of various museum projects.
