Programs

1 program

Seniors supportive services-ocm provided culturally and linguistically appropriate support to older adults facing language barriers and limited access to public services. The organization conducted repeated group sessions on medical insurance renewal, helping elders understand their options and avoid lapses in coverage, which improved their ability to navigate the healthcare system. To reduce stigma related to mental health, ocm facilitated open discussions encouraging elders to share experiences and seek support. The organization also secured oromo-speaking county staff to work at the oromo community center every monday, allowing elders to apply for snap, healthcare, cash assistance, and other public benefits in their own language. Ocm launched esl classes specifically designed for older adults, helping them gain practical english skills for everyday communication, medical visits, and public services.
