Emergency support program: wildlife centers in africa are constantly threatened by the risk of disasters, which include floods, severe storms, fires, political instability, disease outbreaks, and the global covid-19 pandemic. Pasa provides emergency grants for its member organizations in africa and works with the organizations to resolve the crises and ensure they continue to provide excellent care to the animals who depend on them. In addition to giving funding, pasa's emergency support consists of giving guidance, fundraising, and forging connections veterinarians and other specialists who have needed expertise.

Rescue and animal care: pasa collaborates with its member wildlife centers and other partners to rescue great apes and monkeys from cruelty and suffering across africa and beyond. The primates are transported to the sanctuaries where the staff provide emergency veterinary treatment and excellent long-term care, and reintroduce the animals to the wild whenever possible. Pasa's network of specialists provide training in primate care and veterinary treatment to sanctuary staff.

Action for chimpanzees: in response to reports by wildlife centers in west africa of a dire increase in the number of chimpanzees confiscated from the thriving illegal wildlife trade, pasa launched action for chimpanzees to resolve this crisis at its roots. The program includes genetic research to sequence genomes of chimpanzees confiscated from traffickers and use a genetic "map" to determine the origin of these trafficking victims, which will provide evidence of trafficking hotspots and smuggling routes. The results will be used to focus anti-trafficking projects on priority areas and amplify efforts to stamp out the illegal trade. Additional components of action for chimpanzees include a large-scale public awareness campaign across the region as well as training for law enforcement officials and the judiciary. The country's significance as having the second largest rainforest with some of the largest, remaining wild primate populations, we have reacted a targeted advocacy and training program to combat the illegal wildlife trade.
