As lakota, we believe we are all related, and it is our duty to create a better world for future generations. Sicangu community development corporation does this by empowering people, strengthening families and building community in the key areas of food, health, housing and education.

Sicangu food sovereignty initiative:sicangu cdc's food sovereignty initiative (fsi) advanced its mission to create a healthy, culturally grounded, and sovereign food system for the sicangu oyate. In 2024, it continued local food production at the 1-acre keya wakpala farms; hosted over 10 farmers' markets featuring over 10 tribal and/or local vendors; piloted a sliding scale tribally supported agriculture food box program; and hosted over 5 interns and farm apprentices.
Sicangu health initiative:sicangu cdc's sicangu health initiative (shi) served over 12 youth through its wotakuye wellness afterschool program; installed 68 home gardens at intergenerational households; continued its food rx health coaching program; and hosted a youth buffalo harvest.
