Mission

To promote healthy relationships by providing culturally sensitive support, advocacy, education, and housing for victions and survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human tarafficking; and to effect systems change.

Programs

Drop-in/community service/education: sojourner house operates a drop-in advocacy and resource center in the city of providence, ri. Clients can access emotional support, support groups, clinical therapy, hiv testing, legal services, and other related programs. During our 2024 fiscal year, we provided a total of 11,187 supportive sessions across our community programs for a total of 5,355.25 hours. There were 11,198 supportive sessions across our housing programs for a total of 7,014 hours. 81 clients received clinical services for 604 sessions covering 666hours. We administered 237 hiv & hep tests and provided outreach to 5,619 community members with hiv & sexual health education and prevention. A total of 13 support groups with 142 clients covering 3,074 hours. 277 clients received basic needs support.

Expenses: $1.9M

Trafficking: sojourner house provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, basic needs, clinical counseling, and related supportive services to victims of human trafficking. In fiscal year 2024 the theia emergency shelter served a total of 23 clients with 2,046 bed nights. We also provided transitional housing for 18 clients with 4,978 bed nights in the trafficking program. 71 thiea clients participated in 430 sessions for 335 hours of supportive programming.

Housing development: sojourner house has an emerging housing development program. At the conclusion of fy 24 sojourner owns 9 buildings in rhode island. Three of these buildings with 10 units are owned and in the process of being refurbished. During the ensuing fy sojourner has acquired an additional 6 unit building and is under contract for another 2 unit building, which is new construction. When all units are operational sojourner will control 37 units which will aid the agency is its core pursuit of rebuilding its clients' lives.
