Mission

The Organization is rooted in the Vietnamese American experience of New Orleans East and pursues the full liberation of Black and Indigenous people, and People of Color BIPOC accross all intersectional identities to improve the quality of life of residents in Southern Louisiana. Together with community partners, the Organization's justice work encompasses health, climate, food, education, education, housing, workforce as well as the culture and the arts.

Environment: Song CDC works to address environmental concerns in New Orleans East. We are currently working with community members to build green infrastructure projects along the waterways and canals in the New Orleans East community. Partners include green infrastructure companies and Healthy Gulf. This project promotes environmental justice by creating green infrastructures that will help with stormwater management and nutrient runoff in the area.

Senior Housing: This community development project is a direct response to the needs of seniors identified post-Hurricane Katrina. Leadership and staff have been working with housing consultants to develop the project in addition to participating in the 2022 Urban Land Institute Real Estate Diversity Initiative REDI.
