Established in 1986 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization created to strengthen ties among the diverse and growing business community based in metropolitan washington, d.c., and with the diplomatic community, the economic club of washington, d.c. Promotes global awareness of the pivotal role washington plays in the national and world economies. Its goals are twofold: to provide a prominent forum where eminent global leaders can share their insights about major issues of the day; and to promote a robust peer community for the area's top executives.

Programs

2 programs

Scholarship programs: College scholarships, in the amount of $20,000 each, are awarded to up to 55 Washington, DC, public and charter high school seniors based on academic achievement and other factors. With oversight provided by the Education Committee, extensive additional support is provided to students selected for teh scholarship award including mentoring, internships, and other seminars divsed to enhance successfull graduation from college and provide job opportunities. Through a vigorous application process, up to 3 fellowships in the amount of $10,000 are also awarded to prior scholarship winners to support graduate - level study across all disciplines.

Membership: The Economic Club of Washington DC is a non-profit peer group organization. Our exclusive membership is restricted to executive-level leaders of top tier businesses based in the Washington region. Through our programs, members gain valuable insight into critical global, economic, business, and political issues that impact their company's success. They also interact with peers in ways that strengthen the area business community and support their ability to effectively guide their firms' commerce. Economic Club members include heads of regional and national corporations, entrepreneurs, investment professionals, government affairs experts, lawyers, accountants, and business leaders from the Washington, DC region. The Executive Fellows program welcomes individuals from annual sponsor organizations, who are on a leadership track, and provides opportunities to develop and cultivate leadership skills.
