The purpose of the corporation is to engage in the following activities: (1) to operate exclusively for charitable and educational purposes under code section 501(c)(3), (2) to develop and strengthen a broad-based and representative movement to achieve fully resourced, quality pre k-12 public education, and (3) to engage in any and all other lawful activities incidental to and in pursuit of the foregoing purposes, except as specifically restricted by the articles of organization.

Loving cities index provides a framework including education, health, safety, school climate, community power, etc. To equip parents, students and public school systems to create healthy community climates that are just and fair. The objectives of the loving cities index initiative are three-fold: 1) assess communities' cross-cutting capacity to meet the whole child needs, 2) provide recommendations and prescriptions for needed supports, and 3) support the community actions and partnerships that have proven to lead to sustainable systemic change. More than 25 cities and communities across the nation will be engaged in the loving cities index initiative.

Schott foundation serves as the fiscal sponsor to two national education justice organizations as part of the package of resource supports provided by schott to our community partners aligned with our work on education justice. Schott serves as the legal entity for these organizations and provides accounting, management, technical assistance, leadership development, and other administrative services while vesting decision-making authority within the organizations themselves.
