Prepare young people for success through tennis, education, life skills, and leadership development.

Programs

Year-round tutoring program - serving 22 youth participants at letts community center for academic tutoring twice a week. Participants are paired with tutors to focus on completing homework, understanding concepts with which the youth may be struggling, and developing a mentoring relationship. This program focuses on helping students achieve passing grades in all classes in order to be promoted to the next grade as well as increasing social emotional core competencies. 1,963 students participated in a variety of tennis and life skills programs, including lunch time tennis, gym classes, and mid-day movers.

Expenses: $207K

Summer tennis, life skills, and leadership program - 330 participants. Programs conducted include learning the game of tennis and improving skills, hearing from notable community leaders, and exploring leadership themes such as giving back to the community, education and goal setting, diversity, teamwork, innovative thinking, healthy eating, and exercise. Participants engage in three field trips per summer to destinations around the state to expand worldview and engage in new experiences. Letts week-day tennis programming serving 29 youth ages 6-10. These programs utilize modified tennis balls, smaller racquets, and smaller court dimensions to provide a successful learning experience and lots of fun for players. Ball, racquet and court transitions are based on a natural progression in technique, skill, athleticism, and age.
