Mission
The Toolbox is the go-to resource for everything small business in Wyandotte County, Kansas. We provide support with planning, registering, funding, operating, and growing your business. We take the intimidating checklist of starting and operating a business and distill it down into the essentials through private one-on-one small business coaching. All of our services are offered at no cost to local residents and businesses. Our vision is to empower the community to own their economic future.

In 2024, The Toolbox provided 531 one-on-one meetings with entrepreneurs, primarily in construction, food service, and retail industries. These sessions focused on business planning, funding strategies, and connecting with resources. The majority of clients were women (56.8%) and 73.4% identified as Latinx/Hispanic, highlighting our role in serving underrepresented business owners. Client demographics spanned ages 18 to 74, with the largest group being 35-44 years old (45%).
In 2024, The Toolbox organized and participated in 24 events, including the Kansas City, Kansas Urban E-Community networking series, the Food Business Conference, the 5th Annual Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge, and 913 Day. These events fostered collaboration among entrepreneurs, banks, and ESOs, while showcasing small business talent across Wyandotte County. Hundreds of residents engaged in these activities, helping strengthen connections and expand opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
