Mission

Turn the Page STL, St. Louis' Chapter of the National Campaign for Grade Level Reading, is a city-county wide literacy initiative dedicated to increasing the number of children that are reading proficiently by the end of third grade. We measure the progress of our work based on our Collective Impact Strategic Plan, which outlines 5 focus areas to align and provide resources, including kindergarten readiness, summer learning, teacher preparedness, family engagement, and community awareness.

Summer Learning. Led the summer 2024 "One-Hour of Day Summer Literacy Infusion program at 12 summer camp sites, serving 812 campers living in poverty. Sixty percent (60%) of campers improved in their literacy skills based on a pre and post assessment.

Kindergarten Readiness. Co-lead with the University of Missouri - St. Louis the "Early Childhood Community Leader Initiative" for the St. Louis region, a program of the Office of Childhood with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Led the 2024 St. Louis Early Educators Appreciation Event honoring 200 early educators who have dedicated their lives to serving low-income children and families.

Family Engagement. Provide posters, stickers, handouts, bookmarks, books at more than 25 public community events, linking families with literacy resources.
