To educate kids, strengthen their families, and build a healthy community.

Programs

4 programs

Youth programming - urban ventures youth programming includes - act six, innovation center, music, youth mentoring, lake street works, and uv college and career center. Through the college and career center, 391 students from at least six local high schools explored post-secondary opportunities and received assistance with tasks like fafsa applications and job interview preparation. Youth mentoring programs supported 408 students on campus and at partner schools, providing mental health education and emotional support. Act six offered 226 college students leadership training, academic guidance, and emotional support as they navigated higher education. Music education programs engaged 655 students through guitar and piano lessons, artist development, and music exploration activities. Lake street works prepared 87 students for careers in vocational trades through a 10-month training program. The innovation center provided 279 students with technology-based education and stem learning opportunities. Together, these programs aim to instill young people with the skills, education, and confidence needed for long-term personal and professional success.

Farm & nutrition - at urban ventures' urban farm, 820 participants engaged in educational programming focused on nutrition and sustainable agriculture, while an additional 1,000 community members received fresh, locally-grown produce for free through the farm stand. The long-term goal of these programs is to foster a healthier, safer, and more connected community through education, prevention, and opportunity.

Program services supports all uv programs through community outreach in addition to working with volunteers and community partners. Urban ventures also supported 21 local small businesses by providing consultations to improve their viability and growth potential.

Family programming - urban ventures family programming offers siempre padres and pathways. Siempre padres assists families who want to grown in their interpersonal relationships and learn new dynamics to be even better parents. Pathways is a diversion program in partnership with the minneapolis city attorney's office, designed as an alternative for those charged with misdemeanor gun offences. Men and women are welcome to programs. Childcare and a meal are provided with each program. The programs are offered at no cost. Our pathways program is expanding next year to partner with st. Paul and hennepin county.
