Theatre company dedicated to developing and producing new, innovative plays and musicals.

Programs

1 program

Projects we supported through development in fy24 with anticipated goals of producing in future seasons include: the antiquities by jordan harrison, a post-apocalyptic cautionary tale about the rise of artificial intelligence; the darger requiem, conceived and directed by martha clarke, exploring the life and creative process of henry darger (played by bill camp), widely regarded as one of the 20th century's most significant self-taught artists, with video and scenic design by the brothers quay; bowl by nazareth hassan, the story of a summer skatepark friendship between two young black men; and the red hook history project, an immersive, multimedia production co-created by sarah gancher and jared mezzocchi that follows the story of brooklyn's sunny's bar over its 100 years of history. We develop the majority of the shows on our stage, often over several years, and many more works each season through our artistic development programs and residencies. Artists receive access to studio space, collaborators, resources and community over a longer period of time than a single workshop or reading. This season's resident artists were shayok misha chowdhury, nazareth hassan, and a.k. Payne. Hassan was recently selected for a tow playwright residency, which will ensure we will produce their new play, bowl, in 2025.
