Advocacy:advocacy services provided to victims of domestic and sexual violence are multifaceted and based upon an individual's and/or family's needs. Victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking need to know their rights and what services are available to them. Advocates assess each victim's unique needs and offer appropriate services or referrals to supportive resources. Clients are not required to report to law enforcement, but for those who do, we provide legal and court advocacy to victims, including assisting clients in filing and obtaining restraining orders and no contact orders. Advocates do not represent the victim legally but act as a support person as the victim navigates the judicial system. Additional services include safe housing, material support, and referrals. All supportive services are provided in a trauma-informed and empowerment-based manner. All services are free and confidential.

Prevention & education:the wrc works to prevent interpersonal violence through education, survivor support, and community collaboration. Advocates teach healthy relationship skills, focusing on empowerment, communication, and conflict resolution to help reduce the risk of intimate partner violence. Advocates define domestic and sexual violence and explain key concepts, including the power and control wheel to identify tactics used by abusive partners, the cycle of abuse that makes leaving difficult, and the principles of consent in sexual relationships. These programs emphasize active listening, effective communication, and boundary-setting to promote safe and respectful relationships.prevention also includes direct support for survivors and their children through safe housing, counseling, and personal and legal advocacy, ensuring they have the resources to rebuild their lives. Wrc strengthens community responses to violence by partnering with law enforcement, attorneys, and medical professionals who benefit from learning how to address the unique needs of survivors. Through training sessions, presentations, and awareness campaigns, wrc fosters a coordinated effort to address sexual violence, domestic violence, stalking, and human trafficking.
